Best Foot Forward

We always tell, or are always told, to put our best foot forward. As a child I was never allowed to ride on a plane wearing jeans, my mom didn’t feel they looked presentable and “you never know who you’ll meet”. These words rang in my ears as I grew up and ventured into the jungle of performing arts. People I would meet at a restaurant where I waitressed would turn up behind the casting table at my next audition or someone I met at a party would be the dance captain of the next show I was in. It’s a vicious truth that once again has presented itself.

My experience with Mia Michaels

I, like most dancers, am fairly obsessed with Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance”. Perhaps it’s the fact that “Lost” is off the air and there is only so much of “Big Brother 8” one can take, but I truly looked forward to Wednesday nights and religiously settled in for 2 hours of dance saturation. Part of this obsession came from the remarkable choreography that sometimes, and I stress sometimes, emerged from the show, my favorite being that of Mia Michaels.
