Performance Companies at the Pulse

Nova Jazz is an innovative, high-energy, dance performance company comprised of young adults. The highly trained and hand-picked members of nova jazz are proficient in styles ranging from theatre dance and jazz to ballet and Middle-Eastern dancing. As leaders in their schools and community, nova jazz members are required to maintain a disciplined schedule of performance classes as well as uphold high standards of academic achievement and community service.

Tap Orchestra, The Pulse Performing Arts Studio's elite tap dancing company, not only performs locally but also is an award winning competition group.

Nova Jazz II, the offspring of its advanced counterpart nova jazz, is an intermediate level jazz performance company. Centered around it's sense of style as well as technique, this performance troupe has performed at such venues as Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, New York City's Battery Park, and Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. It's 18 members are mentors and leaders at The Pulse and study varying genres of dance such as Tap, Theatre Dance, Modern, and Isadora Duncan technique.

Detente is the resident Hip Hop company at the Pulse. Translated as "peace" or a "joining of nations", Detente is directed by Clarke Michael. They have performed this year at Blythedale Hospital, the Mount Kisco parade as well as competitions and the Pulse performances. Detente is a hip hop company dedicated to excellence and precision as well as entertainment. They pursue a fusion of different styles of hip hop and strive to entertain!

Founded in 2011, Fusion Dance Company is a performance/competition team, under the umbrella of the Pulse Performing Arts Studio. Directed by Kevin Ferguson, FDC is an innovative group of young dancers dedicated to expressing themselves through movement. The company requires technical and dedicated artists. Fusion dancers perform various styles of dancing, always remaining interpreters and individuals. Lyrical to Show-stoppers, fusion is a laboratory for creativity. Each dancer is encouraged to explore their movement voice, and excel in the approach and execution.

The Crew is an all guy's performance and competitive hip-hop company. Under the direction of Clarke Michael, the members of the CREW will participate in 4 competitions as well as approximately 5 additional performances throughout the year.

Nova Jazz Juniors is comprised of young and talented dancers ranging from age 7-10. These dancers begin training at a heightened level at young age, grooming them to move up to Nova 2 and Nova in the future. Nova Juniors perform in various community based venues, and in formal recitals as well.
